Reiki, or energy healing, is a Japanese form of alternative medicine used for stress reduction, relaxation, and to help promote whole-body healing. The practice of energy healing is based on the idea that all individuals have an unseen life force energy flowing throughout the body, and that by promoting a healthy flow of energy, we’re able to reduce stress and promote healing.

As a Level 1 and 2 Reiki Practitioner, I use a number of gentle energy healing techniques, including palm healing through which a “universal energy” is transferred from myself to my clients as a means of encouraging both emotional and physical healing. The practice of reiki helps to release energy blockages in the body that have been standing in the way of both physical and emotional healing.

Prior to your initial session, you will have the opportunity to discuss any particular problems or issues you’re experiencing. During your session, you will rest comfortably on a massage table on the back with shoes removed. Sessions can either be hands-on, where I apply a light touch, or hands-off where I’ll hold my hands slightly above your body. I do not cause healing nor am I the source of healing energy, I am rather a channel for energy in much the same way a garden hose acts as a channel for water.

An energy healing session is pleasant, relaxing, and invigorating, can help ease tension and stress, and can support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. While reiki is not a cure for disease or illness, it’s a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is commonly used to help with relaxation, anxiety, pain management, and depression.
